I think we’ve just experienced the greatest greenwashing this side of the moon.  SIGG’s laid-back announcement about the “mere presence of BPA” in the lining of their pre-August 2008 aluminum bottles has generated a firestorm – and it’s not all on the consumer side of things either.  Now the big question is, will SIGG be able to recover from such a devastating blow to their reputation?  After reading the latest SIGG tale unraveled by ZRecs, I’d have to say their chances are dropping by the day.

    I love the idea. The reason our kid doesn't have a stainless bottle is that all we've tried LEAK and are hard for her to close. That means wet homework and a mess in the backpack. Which stainless bottles won't leak?

    Hi Willowsprite,

    Yes, SIGG is sending out replacement bottles with the new EcoCare liner (which is BPA-free). Aside from the mistrust many of their customers now feel, some customers haven't been impressed with the new liner as noted on ZRecs website at http://www.zrecommends.com/detail/two-new-bpa-f…. It's certainly an option to get a replacement bottle from SIGG if you feel comfortable using their products. You can contact them at liners@mysigg.com for more info on their program.
