Support SaferCans.org in Asking the Canning Industry to Find a BPA Alternative

bpa_free_safer_cansI’m Just a Mom – What Can I Do?

How does a mom let major corporations like Coke and DelMonte know that their advertising dollars would be better spent finding a safe alternative to BPA?

Safer States, one of my favorite resources, has created Safer Cans to function as a voice for moms like us.  Let’s throw our weight behind the movement for safe products! Let’s make it clear that their effort to stifle the truth about BPA instead of correcting the problem is not only absurd, but also succeeded in offending the very market they planned to sway!

Now is the time for them to make a swift move to regain our trust.  And the only way to accomplish that huge task is to abandon the current pro-BPA marketing plan and spend that money researching alternatives instead.  Lindsay Dahl of Healthy Legacy (@healthylegacy) stated it perfectly in a tweet:

Instead of a Twitter address on Pepsi/Coke cans, we’d like to see them put a BPA-free label on their cans!

Coke uses BPA in their soda cans? Who else? I thought it was only acid based foods like sauces …

    Hi Dorene,

It is a shocking revelation for sure – but almost all canned drink/food manufacturers use a BPA based epoxy to line their aluminum cans. Eden Organic Foods is currently the only company we're aware of who uses a BPA-free alternative in everything except tomato products which do use the old stand-by BPA epoxy (related to its acidic nature).

We're being exposed to BPA from so many sources each day that most people would never guess, such as the lining of made-to-order pizza and sales receipts. The argument that BPA is safe in small doses just doesn't apply because we're literally surrounded by it . . .

geatr you are doing this I'm sure that acid foods and caustic soda pop beverages bring the BPA out in the bottles and lined cans.
Remember this exposure is especially detrimental to developing young boys. make sur your teen and pre teens boys avoid BPA at any cost.
