Contigo Autoseal Kids Travel Cup

We’ve really been looking forward to introducing you to the new BPA-free Autoseal Kids Cup!  We’ve been happily using the stainless steel Autoseal Travel Coffee Mug for quite a while now and recently included it in our list of Top 5 Stainless Steel Bottles.  It was a only logical that we give the Kids Cup a run for the money too, and we have been amazed at the no-spill technology!

Contigo’s claim seem a little over the top at first, considering that in our experience, a spill-proof sippy is basically non-existent.

To put it plainly, we were shocked at out how true their outrageous claim was!   This is another must-have product for kids on the go.  It’s best used with kids ages 4 to 12 years (because they need to understand how the push button valve works).

Are your giveaways only through Twitter now?

  • http://thesoftlanding.com thesoftlanding

    Hi Allison,

Nope – we have giveaways going on around the blogosphere most of the time.

We haven't decreased the amount of giveaways done here on our blog – we've just increased the number of outlets we use to give the goodies away! We're still hosting our monthly subscriber giveaway (see upper left corner) and we still offer an average of 2 special giveaways per month as you can see here.

By the way, we post all of the giveaways being hosted on other blogs on our Facebook Fan page too, so if you check in there you'll be sure to stay in the know.

    Warmest,

    Alicia

We have a few of these cups. They work wonderfully. They are the only cups my kids use that I know won't spill. My 4 yr old and 6 yr old also love that their cups are mini-versions of Mommy and Daddy's coffee cups (which work great too).

My 3 1/2 year old loves her contigo. I love that it is not the traditional baby sippy. I hate seeing 4 and 5 year olds with a sippy, but these are great, especially in the car.

That's great to hear, Angela! Contigo kids cups do work very well to prevent dreaded spills in the car :)

Can anyone comment on whether it's easy to clean and keep clean?

    • SwifferJet

The opening and autoseal mechanism are almost impossible to keep clean. We’ve developed a method where we use a rubber band to secure a spoon handle against the aoutoseal release button. This keeps the autoseal flap open while we either soak the lid or run it through the dishwasher. No matter what is done there is always residual crud left around the flap. It’s more than a little gross. A pipe-cleaner or q-tip helps, but it’s still a nightmare to clean these lids. Thumbs up on the tightness of the seal, but a HUGE thumbs down on the inability to clean these lids!!!

    Hi Jackie,

We used these cups with our kids for 2 months before deciding to add them to our store. We always put them in the dishwasher on the top rack and they came perfectly clean each time.

We even decided to test the results by breaking open one of the lids (yes – the kids loved smashing it with a hammer!). Every interior part of the lid was nice and clean and we didn't find any strange mold growth or anything.
    Hope that helps,

    Alicia

Thanks for the reply, Alicia! Are there many parts that form the seal on these Contigo cups?

This sounds perfect, the design even looks quite futuristic and fun. I have been looking for some decent kids Travel Mugs for ages but everything always had its problem, either being too big or likely to get spilt.

My daughter (age3) has 4 of these cups and we love them. The problem is that we noticed black goo (mold) forming in the crevices within the rubber valve (in button) I tried everything I could think of and that the website reccomended to clean them. Nothing worked so, i contacted Contigo and was told that they couldn’t help because the cups were a year old. They suggested I just buy new cups, FYI
