The chart is awesome! However, I believe that there is an omission on the Avent check marks because I have the Avent system and it is convertible into a sippy. Since all of their parts are interchangeable, the nipple from the bottle can be removed and replaced with a sippy spout. Just snap it into place. You can also add in the handles if you wish.

    Hi Cindy,

You’re sooo right! My eyes started crossing last night while putting the finishing touches on the chart. Avent bottles are absolutely convertible and the chart has been corrected. I also realized that Born Free was missing a check mark in the same category :)

The Born Free bottles can also be changed to a sippy cup by changing out the nipple for a sippy spout. You can also buy handles. Both available separately.

I was wondering if you know if the breastflow nipples are PVC/pthalate/BisA free… I know their bottles are not. I emailed the company about their nipple’s content and this is the response I got:

“The Breastflow inner nipple is made out of Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) & Polypropylene (PP). The Breastflow outer nipple is made out of silicone.”

What the heck is TPE? Is it safe?

Thanks for the great chart. There’s a lot of helpful information in there. I just wanted to let you and others know about a new product I came across. They are called Bevibags. They are completely BPA free. They are disposable drink bags, that you fill yourself. It enables you to fill the bag with whatever you want, instead of having to buy prefilled juice boxes. I can now mix water with whatever juice I want to give my kids and not have to worry about them getting all that sugar from store bought juice boxes. The best part is that they are disposable. No washing, no cleaning. Just use it and throw them away. I found them at http://www.bevibags.com

My new grandson is using Soothie bottles. I see that the pacifiers are OK, but what about their bottles and nipples?

    Hi Lin,

Soothie bottles are currently made from polycarbonate (containing BPA), so you’ll want to avoid them.

Their bottle nipples are made from silicone, so they’re fine.

I just discovered this site and it is great. I have 2 Born Free bottles and love them but I also have alot of the Playtex drop-in system bottles and nipples. I am not clear..are the liners and the nipples BPA free? Also, my daughter uses the MAM pacifiers which I’m learning have BPA in them, is there another brand that is very similar shape – she won’t take alot of the other brands we have purchased.

This is awesome! I have been researching for what bottle to use for my baby to come and this has helped me narrow it down. Thanks for doing all the research, it’s nice to have it in one spot.

Why are the Nuby Natural Touch bottles not on this chart? I am looking at buying these because they are supposed to be BPA free….? Or do they contain PVC or something??

    Hi Este,

We didn’t include the new Nuby Natrual Touch product line, because it’s not yet available in the U.S. We plan to update the chart in January when many of the upcoming baby bottles are finally available.

The Nuby Natural Touch bottles are BPA, PVC and phthalate free. You can read more about them here.

Are the BPA-free Avent bottles OK to use for storing
50% Juice/50% Water for when we are on the go ?
I know there were leaching concersn with BPA bottles in regard to the acidity of juice.

    Hi Rochelle,

The BPA-free Avent are a great choice for storing drinks, because PES is a tough and stable plastic.
