10 Excuses to Buy a Stainless Steel Water Bottle

  • Sharebar

Um, did I say excuses?  I meant reasons, of course.

10 Reasons to Buy a Stainless Steel Water Bottle

  1. Avoid Extra Chemicals – there’s enough to worry about with rocket fuel and other hormone-disruptors already present in water, so you need to avoid the ones you have control over.
  2. Clean Taste – water from a stainless steel bottle just tastes better.  Your drink keeps its flavor without the metal taste you can get with aluminum or plastic bottles.
  3. Less Bacteria – a study by Coffey Laboratories in Oregon showed that stainless steel bottles are naturally more bacteria resistant than plastic bottles.
  4. Saves Money – just think, if you typically buy one bottled water for $1 each day, a reusable stainless bottle will pay for itself about 3 weeks.
  5. Extra Long Life – you can use it anyway you like and it will stay in great shape for years.  Most stainless steel bottles can be maintained much like a car – just replace the parts.
  6. Reduces Trash -  you can change the growing horror story of the Plastic Sea by reusing your bottle.  According to the NRDC, in 2005 2 million tons of plastic water bottles ended up clogging landfills instead of being recycled.
  7. No More Guessing What’s in Your Water – with disposable bottled water, you don’t know the integrity of the plastic or what chemicals have leached into your water before you even buy it.  To top it off, the quality of the water is basically unknown, as most bottled water comes from same the tap as your home.   Bottled water companies don’t have to release their water-testing results to the public, but municipalities do.
  8. Great Functionality and Style – there’s a bottle perfectly suited to every need – backpackers, sports fanatics, soccer moms and construction workers alike.
  9. Keeps Drinks Cold – stainless steel offers the only truly insulated options in the world of water bottles.  You can can add ice to your drink in the morning and it’ll still be there doing it’s job in the afternoon.
  10. Serious Durability – stainless steel bottles may dent and scratch, but they don’t crack under pressure!  My bottles was run over by a Mack truck, and yet here it stands today :)

I love my Intak that I just purchased from you guys. It’s big, so it holds enough water that I’m not constantly making trips to the water dispenser (being 34 weeks pregnant, the bathroom is a whole other story :) And the best part is that it keeps my drink cold overnight, which I love. I hate when my water gets warm overnight.

What I want to know is, did you run it over on purpose or did it just happen to get away from you? :P

      Hey Statia,

We always look forward to your witty comments around here!

Um, did it get away from me? Well, just maybe I set it down in the driveway while carrying a load of junk into work (I wouldn’t want to drop it you know!). Just so happens I work at a warehouse, which also happens to receive a lot of deliveries in giant semi trailers . . .

The Thermos Stainless Steel Intak Bottles are AMAZING, aren’t they? It’s right at the top of my favorites list (and yes, of course I have one of those too – you know, it’s that whole water bottle addict thing of mine).

I just got one for my husband who kept complaining about his Tupperware plastic one (bpa free). So I bought a thermos 22 oz. for him and he loved the look of it! His plastic one had a bunch of stickers on it from our girls. Every time they get stickers they think it’s cool to put them “on daddy’s water bottle.” I don’t think he’ll let them do that now that he has a thermos stainless steel one!

We all have Thermos ones now. Kids and parents alike. I even started using a huge Thermos one (just removed the straw) to carry the ready-to-feed formula around when we will be gone for a while. It keeps it warm for a long time and I just have to pour the right amount in my bottle when it’s time and that’s it. It’s more convenient than carrying several filled bottles that can never be at the right temperature! ;-)

    Hi John,

Thanks for the thumbs up! I’ve been meaning to write this article for quite a while. When you whittle it down to the nitty gritty, there’s really no reason NOT to have a stainless steel bottle!

    Hi Nayiva and Bee,

I understand your excitement over your Thermos! Thermos really has their act together when it comes to durability and drink insulation. I also appreciate the warranty they offer, as well as their friendly customer service whenever we have questions.

Hi, I have a question about the insulated stainless steel drinking bottles or thermos' items and that is whether you can put them in the freezer or not? I don't always have ready access to lots of ice cubes, (still recovering from Hurricane Katrina) but if I could freeze the water I could have cold water for the day maybe. I heard some stainless steel bulge when they are frozen, however. Any info? Thanx.

I have a stainless steel water bottle I got from a small women owned company in New Hampshire called Affirm Water (http://www.affirmwater.com) and I love it! I really like supporting small women owned business. I met the ladies at a Boston eco-consumer fair and feel like they really have it together and are doing it right!
